Getting started

Set up your workspace and bring your team in.

How do I create my Relay workspace?

Sign up at relaysop.com, confirm your email, then name your workspace on the onboarding screen. The workspace is your org — your team, your SOPs, your courses all live inside it.

How do I invite teammates?

Manager mode → Teams & members → Invite. You can paste a list of emails, pick a role (Admin, Manager, or Employee), and optionally auto-assign courses they should take on day one. Invitees get an email with a sign-up link.

What's the difference between manager mode and employee mode?

Manager mode is the authoring + admin surface — SOPs, courses, workflows, analytics, team admin. Employee mode is the read-and-train surface — the library, your training queue, the AI assistant. Admins and Managers can preview employee mode via the sidebar switcher; Employees only see employee mode.

Can I import my existing playbook?

Yes — the Team plan includes bulk import. From the SOPs page, click Import to upload a PDF, paste markdown, or paste plain text. Our AI converts it into Relay's block format with headings, lists, and callouts preserved.

SOPs

Write, version, and share standard operating procedures.

How are SOPs versioned?

Every publish increments the version. First-time publish keeps your manual version (e.g. v0.1). Subsequent publishes bump the minor version automatically — unless you've edited the version field yourself, in which case Relay honors your exact value.

What does 'require acknowledgement' do?

When on, employees see an Acknowledge button at the bottom of the SOP and a reminder banner on every page until they tap it. Their acknowledgement is recorded against the SOP's current version, so a re-publish prompts a re-ack.

Who can see a SOP?

Set this in the share dialog. Private = only people you explicitly add. Teams = members of the teams you pick (Team plan and up). Entire organization = everyone in your workspace can view.

Can I add images or video to a SOP?

Yes. Click the + icon at the start of a new block in the editor to insert an image (up to 5MB) or a video (up to 100MB). Both are hosted on our CDN and embed inline.

Courses & training

Build training that runs on its own.

How do quizzes work?

Add a quiz lesson inside any module. Each question can be single-answer or multi-select; you set the correct option(s) and a rationale that shows after the user answers. Quizzes contribute to the course's passing score.

How is course completion tracked?

Every lesson marks complete when the user finishes it (or passes the quiz). The course is complete when every lesson is done and the user has hit the passing score. Managers see live progress per assignee in the course's analytics panel.

Can employees earn a certificate?

Yes — the Team plan and up include certificates. When a course has 'Issue certificate' enabled and the user completes it with a passing score, they get a printable certificate at /employee/courses/{id}/certificate.

Why can't I add a quiz?

Quizzes are a Team-plan feature. Free orgs see the lesson types they can use (video, text, SOP). Upgrade from Settings → Billing.

Workflows

Draw the way work moves.

What are workflows for?

Flowcharts. Use them for the kinds of processes that read better as a picture than as paragraphs — onboarding paths, escalation trees, customer journeys, post-sale handoffs.

How do I add a new node?

Drag any of the toolbar buttons onto the canvas, or use the keyboard shortcuts: P for Process, D for Decision, T for Terminator, S for Sticky note.

How do I draw an arrow between nodes?

Hover any node — four small handles appear on each side. Click and drag from a handle to another node to draw an edge. Edges snap to 90° angles automatically.

Can I label the arrows?

Yes — double-click an edge to add a label like 'Yes' or 'No' on a decision branch. Enter saves; Escape cancels.

What does the auto-layout button do?

It runs Dagre to rearrange every node into a tidy hierarchy. Click it again to flip between top-to-bottom and left-to-right layouts.

Team & permissions

Members, roles, and what they can do.

What can each role do?

Admins do everything including billing. Managers can create and edit content, invite people, and view analytics — but can't change the plan or billing. Employees only see published content, take courses, and read SOPs.

Can I change someone's role after they've joined?

Yes — Teams & members → click the role chip next to their name. Role changes are a Team-plan feature; on Free, every member is an Employee.

What happens to someone's progress when I remove them?

Their training assignments and acknowledgement records are kept for org-level reporting, but their account is detached from your workspace immediately.

AI assistant

Cited answers from your own playbook.

What can I ask the assistant?

Anything about your team's published SOPs and courses. Press ⌘K to open it. The assistant only references your own content — not the public web — and every answer includes citations linking back to the source SOP or course.

Does the AI see private SOPs?

It scopes to the org's published content only. Drafts, archived items, and private SOPs are excluded from the corpus.

What's the token cap?

Free orgs are budgeted 100,000 tokens per rolling 30-day window — roughly 100 short Q&A turns. Team and Business are unlimited. You can see your current usage in Settings.

Billing & plans

Subscriptions, invoices, and upgrades.

How do I upgrade?

Settings → Billing → Change plan. You'll be taken to Stripe to enter a card. Subscriptions include a 14-day free trial; you can cancel anytime before the trial ends and you won't be charged.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Settings → Billing → Manage subscription opens the Stripe portal where you can cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.

Do you offer refunds?

We don't pro-rate refunds for partial periods. If something's gone wrong on a charge, email hello@relaysop.com and we'll sort it out.

Security & privacy

Where your data lives and who can see it.

Where is my data stored?

Postgres on Neon (US-East), files on Vercel Blob. We're based in Calgary, Alberta. See the Privacy Policy for the full sub-processor list and data-retention details.

Is my content used to train AI models?

No. Our AI provider (Anthropic) processes prompts under a no-training agreement. Your SOPs and courses stay inside your workspace.

What encryption do you use?

TLS in transit. Encryption at rest on the database and file storage. Authentication is handled by Clerk with optional multi-factor.
